Reading Weapons

So stoked! I got some new reading glasses on Tuesday and they're perfect. Especially since I have been reading A LOT lately...watch out books!
If you ever have any really good suggestions on books, email me at surfingwright@gmail.com.

Dougy!

After a quick surf in the morning to try out my new wetsuit, I had to rush to school then rush to work. After work I had a meeting with my dad and the University of Phoenix (since I will be transfering there and starting Janurary 6th). To end the day off I got to meet up with my old youth leader Doug Smith!
Doug took me out to eat at the Westminister mall at this place called Todai. We got all you can eat sushi and just ate till our stomachs hurt...haha!
I really enjoy meeting up with people that I respect and that I could learn from, and Doug is definetley one of them. He is just full of good advice. A couple things that he told me that really stood out were 1) Whatever you do, think long term and 2) (my favorite) First its impossible, then its difficult, then its done!!!

Yeah I was super stoked on the all you can eat!

New Suit and Zinka

I got to meet up with Bodyglove and Zinka on Monday the 24th with my manager Russ. Zinka set me up with a load of sunscreen, tees, stickers and chapstick! We got to talk about 2009 and everything, things are looking great!

Russ and I then met up with Todd Richards from Bodyglove and did the same things as with Zinka, just talking about 2009 and coming up with some plans. They have the BEST wetsuits that I have ever used! With Christmas and the cold winter months fast approaching, if you are in need of a new wetsuit definitely check them out - especially the Vapor one!!

So stoked on my new BODYGLOVE

Again!

I got to go up north again for the weekend. It has been so cool to be home and actually have swell and good weather conditions! On Friday the waves were super fun in the morning and got a nice 4 hour session with a friend. I also ran into pro bodyboarder Ross Mcbride which was really cool because he surfs so well on the sponge. He owns a company called No Friends so check it out (www.nofriends.com) That session ross actually really hurt his ankle and last I heard he was going to get it s-rayed in case he broke it bummer.
When i got back to my friends house one of his roomates was making these HUGE breakfeast burritos and decided to go all out and make one for everyone it was so good.
The wind changed later and turned on shore, I took advantage of it and headed to the Toobs (www.toobs.com) factory to check it out and talk story with BUZZ a living LEGEND in the sport of bodyboarding. I wounded up just talking storys about bodyboarding, boards, spots, etc.. until he had to close the shop, it was seriously so rad.
Saturday was just a day of bodyboarding all day with some really nice conditions, and also squeezing in some homework too haha

Business??

The waves have been pretty small where I live but since I wanted to stay active I got to do an intense workout with some friends who are really into Jiu Jitsu they pretty much owned me and I got my butt kicked haha, I also got to go on a good bike ride and then did some Yoga.

Later on I met up with Joey Buran at Claim Jumper for some lunch and it was so rad. He is full of advice and knowledge which he is always willing to share. Anytime I get to hang out with people I look up to or are successful, I try and take notes on little things they say that can be really effective. I learned this in a book I read by Robin Sharma (http://www.robinsharma.com/) called; "The Greatness Guide" Joey helped me map out my 2009 campaign which I am really looking forward to along with my sponsors!

Milo is working on my website to get everything working and soon you will be able to sign up for my newsletter and a video newsletter which will be sent out once a month on everything that went down that month. It should be pretty funny.

Russel and I got to meet up too. I got a box of Pizza from Deli News (really really good PIZZA) in Long Beach and they hooked it up with some free cookies to say congrats on everything I have been up to which was really nice of them. Russ has alot of plans, ideas, and everything for 2009 which should be really awesome! So stay tuned

WOW! what an aweome and long day! The weather and waves were totally different from saturday. It was about 3-5ft crazy onshore winds and a strong current. It was a long day of competition and I surfe three heats, and made my first USBA final!! It was so sweet and I was sooo happy! Its the best feeling to have a goal and reach it. My parents and older brother Jason got to come to the contest and watch me compete which was really special. I got 2nd place in the finals behind my favorite bodyboarder of all time Jeff Hubbard!
Here is a quote I took from the press release!!; "Major standouts where California's own Jeremy Wright who was on a consistent roll from day one all the way to the final." So nice of them to give me a little love.
My parents booked it home after the finals and started to get a big dinner ready with my sister in law Christina and my oldest brother Josh who were starting to cook a feast to celebrate my finals placing. Any one that knows my parents knows that they are AMAZING and that I am really blessed by them and my whole family so yeah I was so stoked to rush home and get my grub on haha

USBA Day one

The first day of contest was awesome! Lots and lots of people showed up to support and compete!
There were so many guys surfing really well, alot of my cali friends like bobby kitchart, sean english, and matt meyer surfed awesome along with alot of other people.
My friend chase cruised with me to the contest. He surfed the whole entire day and filmed my heat, and went back in the water it was sweet. I wounded up getting first in that heat and was stoked!
Next day is going to be a long one
Here is a quote from the press release; "Even with the perfect weather a few clouds found there way in the form huge upsets, with Jonah Romero, Jacob Romero and Jason Bitzer all bowing out early to local a contingency. Also the women's division had 2x USBA Champ not progressing into the later rounds. Ross McBride, Jeremy Wright and Bobby Kichart where the Cali standouts at the Sport Chalet Salt Creek Pro all producing big maneuvers and pocket riding skills."
If you want to sign up for the press releases or updates go to www.usbatour.org and in the top right corner enter your email and you will be updated with all the USBA info! Its that easy

We finally got to the competing part and it was so sweet. The level of bodyboarding was really really high. I didnt get the best result but definetley tryed my hardest. I got 30th place. It was really encouraging to have CJ hobgood talk to me about his result here when he was my age. He told me that he did even worse result then me like 36th place or something, he told me to really learn from this result and see what I could improve on and dont make the same mistakes again. He then went on to list some of his accomplishments like winning a World Title!! It was sweet for him to do that for me and just share some other insights and to keep following my dreams. Man that sweet. Jacob did really well and got in the top 16 which is so sweet! I was really really happy for him. He is going to be doing the World Tour next year so I hope everyones ready for him to really BLOW UP! Yeww
Everyone on the team did really well and to get the full results check out www.wsg2008.com they have loads of photos from every day of the contest and everything!!
