Helped my girlfriend babysit the other week. We took the kids to the beach and I took the boy bodyboarding. The kid is genius and already has goals for himself, reads a book every other day, and is super smart. Probably the smartest under 10 year old I have ever met. After we went bodyboarding I asked what he wanted to be when he grew up and one of the three things he said was to become a professional bodyboarder! Sooo cool!!

My good friend and surf buddy Dustin broke his leg last week bodyboarding at one of our favorite waves.
When I hurt my back he was the first friend of mine that came over to make sure I was okay. He dropped off some bodyboard videos, movies and just encourage me to keep my head up.
When I visited him I brought us lunch, checked out his new pad and watched two boogie vids. It was good just to hang out and catch up.
I thought of how much we can take our health for granted each day. It is important to remind yourself how much a blessing it is to be healthy.

Three Years

I got to go bodyboarding/longboarding with my best friend Kevin today and our friend Alex. Its been three years since we actually went bodyboarding together so I was super stoked! Kevs the one who got me into bodyboarding so to be in the water again was a great feeling. Kevs is super busy with work but this summer he got the boogie bug back since a lot of our friends are going a lot and since the waves have been fun and the water temperature has been nice.
Today the waves were small and I was long boarding most of the time but it was still a blast to be cruising in the ocean.

I just finished Clayton Kings book Dying to Live.
Clayton sent me the book in January which was so nice of him! I listen to his sermons on Itunes and have been a big fan of his for years now. I first heard of him through FCA and have liked him ever since.
I like how he can relate to a younger generation. He is a southern man and loud but its awesome.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do t to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. RESET

During my injury I gained some weight since I wasn't active anymore but still eating the same amount of food, which was not the best idea. My good friend Josh McGowan suggested that I do the RESET diet and since he is a good friend and I value his opinion I did. It is a five day diet and I leaned out by dropping nine pounds! I feel great and highly recommend this diet to anyone looking to drop some weight for the summer, training or just for yourself.
I don't know the most about it but add Josh as a friend on Facebook and get more information from him.

I have been getting back in the water but at no rush. My back is still sensitive and I am in NO hurry to get re-injured. I have created a better work out and yoga regime which starts on monday which I am excited for but is going to take a lot of time and discipline but will definetley help my performance so I don't have to be so afraid of getting hurt again.
I am really happy to be back in the water and just wanted to thank everyone for the positive encouragement and all the support!

US Open of Bodyboarding

One local pro bodyboarder who won't be in the water this weekend, however, is Jeremy Wright. Wright grew up in Long Beach and still lives there, but he suffered a back injury while bodyboarding at the Wedge in Newport Beach seven weeks ago and only got back into the water again this week after treatment.

Wright, 24, ranked No. 9 on the USBA Tour last year, but instead of participating this weekend, he'll be relegated to serving as a commentator on the event webcast at usbatour.com/live.

"I slipped my L4 disc," Wright said. "It was no joke. I almost broke my back."

Wright, though, will be in good spirits this weekend. He's graduating from college Saturday with a degree in business management from the online college University of Phoenix.

Wright has made education a priority in his life, going back to getting a 4.0 GPA at Millikan High School. It's a common theme on the USBA Tour, as Jeff Hubbard has a master's degree in international business from Hawaii Pacific University.

"I don't know if there is anybody in the surfing association who even went to college," Wright said. "Jeff travels nine months a year and he got his master's. Dave has his BA, and I have my BA. For me, it's a benefit that you don't get everything handed to you in this sport. I've had two jobs ever since high school."

He still holds two jobs now outside of his bodyboarding efforts, by day as an assistant marketing director and by night as a valet.

Nothing against surfers, though. He's a surfer himself.

"I surf all the time," Wright said. "But I bodyboard when the waves are good. There are things that you can do that are insane. I'm really acrobatic, athletic and flexible, so I can do some crazy stuff.

"I had a lot of friends in high school who were bodyboarders, so that made it cool. We had a surf team and my first year we had five bodyboarders and I took first in the state, and I won five or six amateur titles. I've always been surrounded by bodyboarders. It's just a lot of fun."

My girlfriend and I got two free passes to go to the San Diego zoo. We both haven't gone there in ages so we took the opportunity to head down south. It was a lot of fun and we had a blast! She bought me this rad bracelet with her name to give me a daily reminder that she loves me. We got a flat tire on the way home but good old AAA came through and my parents met us half way so I could make it to work on time. It was a crazy day of adventures and a total blast!

Starting in June I will be challenging myself to learn how to play an instrument and learn spanish. This is not easy task self teaching yourself but I believe that one percent of daily improvement over time will have BIG results!

Last Friday I won my second MVP award at my Valet Job! To win MVP is no easy task. There are 80 employees fighting for the extra money bonus we get and bragging rights. Some people have worked there a year or two and still haven't won one. So to hear I got it again got me super stoked! I really enjoy working that job and the people I get to work with are all so rad!
