Back to the roots

I hope everyone had a really awesome Easter! The waves have been really fun lately especially on Monday the 13th. I surfed Wedge for about 10 hours total. My first session was 8 hours straight. I took a nap in my van and chugged a bunch of water and booked it back to the line up for another 2 hours! I always try and surf as much as possible when there are good waves at home because the swell always seems to come and go haha
On wednesday the 15th I got to go down south and meet up with my new sponsor RXYM team manager Matt Byzak. Matt is getting into photography and has been submitting a lot of his stuff to surfline and is getting lots of views! He also has a really good competitive background in the bodyboarding scene. The waves were not that good at all that day but its always nice to be at the beach. The current was actually pretty crazy but a good workout. Matt wanted to run a few practice heats since it wasnt good for shooting photos. The practice heat was so much fun! It reminded me of my friend Mark Klein and all the practice heats we would run. I wounded up winning but only in the last 3 minutes! The win got me a free meal which I was stoked on! Matt also let me borrow some older bodyboarding videos till the next practice to keep me amped and so I can see some footage that I never saw! Cant wait to watch the videos like 10x each! yeww

Yesterday I got word that my favorite spot Seal had some small, clean, glassy waves so I shot down there as fast as I could. It was nothing epic at all but it was so cool to catch up with some of the older bodyboarders that have been surfing there forever and always encouraged me guys like Chuck, Perez, Denis, etc.. There are so many up and coming bodyboarding groms in my neck of the woods and are out there every single day. I love surfing with them and giving them advice and keeping them motivated to kill it in the water and at school. It is crazy to come back from a trip and see how much better everyone gets! It is really encouraging for sure! One of the kids had a water camera so after I was out for a while I thought I would take some shots for them. I think a few came out pretty sick.
