There was alot of stuff that happened during the month of June. I got ready for my trip to Puerto my getting a new board from my shaper Jimmy Linvelle. He made another awesome board for me and I cant wait to try it out. Since I was in Oceanside my accessorie sponsor Bullys (
www.bullys.com) told me to drop by and get some new leashes for my trip! Steve the owner was there to greet me and its always good to catch up with him. On June 4th Sport Chalet held an event for there employees to learn all about how to bodyboard or surf and how to sell the product! I got to go and represent Wave Rebel along with Micha "Da Hamma" McMullin. It was alot of fun and we even got to get some of the employees on some waves. Mike Stewart along with alot of the big time pros came out and it was awesome just being in the same enviorment as them and asking questions and soaking up all there knowledge We also got these huge burgers that were free!
Sport Chalet also had two days of in store promos on the 5th and 6th at Huntington Beach, Irvine, and two locations in San Diego. The promos are alot of fun and I love just meeting new people and giving out FREE product my sponsors give me to hook people up with. Alot of my family got to come out to support me which was really nice along with my manager Russel.
On June 7th and 8th the USBA had there contest at Imperial Beach. I actually got knocked in my first heat which was a real realy big bummer. I thought I was going to do alot better especially with winning the previous month at the same spot but everyone was ripping in my heat and I just was just making really dumb decisions. But when you lose I find that its really good to see what mistakes you made and make sure you wont do it next time. Also David Hubbard killed the event and wounded up taking home the first place check and trophy.
On June 9th I left to Puerto Escondido Mexico with Pez for a BODYBOARDER magazine future article. Later the Romero brothers met up with us, along with Riley, Kingsley, and Micha Mchmullin. The waves were really fun and the HAWAIIANS were absolutley KILLING it! They always always push me since there really nuts in bigger waves. They always seem to have fun no matter what. I love traveling with those guys. We also held the first annual Romero brother contest. I did some commentating along with the spoting for the judges haha In the end even though it was really close the younger romero Jonah won. All of us are really competitive in a good way and we challenge each other in anything its rad.
I got home on the 21st just in time for the Alternative Surf Expo on the 22nd. The Alternative Surf expos are soo fun! You get to see whats the latest with all the companies and catch up with all these bodyboarders. This year Josh Shelly from toobs brought all these old school mags and thats pretty much all I did was catch up on my bodyboarding history it was Great! Also there free food and Brandon Foster was on it!
To finish off the month I had a BIA competition on the 28th at Zuma. I wounded up getting 3rd behind my good friend Bryan Washburn 2nd, and Drew Erichson 1st. The boys were ripping even though the waves werent the best yewww
