How A Fish Out Of The Water Stays Motivated and Healthy

I still haven't found a machine at the gym that can replicate the work out you get from bodyboarding Pic by Sawitz

I never liked hitting the gym or doing typical workouts.  I would always just bodyboard for hours upon hours, do beach runs, swim laps, etc.  Lately, a new motivation has come upon me and home workouts have been so fun!

Desiring to be the product of the product

I have been beyond booked with business lately, so going to the beach all the time is just not in my cards--especially when I know the waves aren’t going to be that good (in cali that is a lot, not ideal for bodyboarding).  I want to stay in shape, so I got some home workouts, weights and have been challenging myself everyday!

Group Challenges are always fun and keep you accountable and Motivated

By doing this, my motivation has been at an all-time high.  Not only has my motivation increased, but my fitness has as well.  When I get in the water my bodyboarding is much stronger and I don’t get as tired.  As a result, I am motivated to workout more!  The cycle goes on and on.

My all time favorite video before a workout

I want to challenge you to find a way to keep yourself motivated even if it isn’t something that you ideally would do.  Trust me; it will be worth it!

Who's The Katchka In YOUR Life?

-->
Do you have a friend that can get you to drop everything even if you are super busy? The one that can get me to do this is my friend JoeKatchka!

I always thought the people that tried to distract me were not as driven or focused, but how wrong I was!  Joe has taught me that you have to work hard, but always make time to have fun!  I am very goal oriented and focused on my goals.  However, if you are not enjoying the ride, then was it all worth it?

Joe knew the waves were gonna be fun this day, he knew I was itching to get some fun waves, and we linked up on some really fun waves this day.  It was sunny, no one really out and waves to ourselves.  It wasn’t the biggest but really fun!

If you have a friend like Joe in your life, shoot them a THANK YOU text because they are the ones that keep your life exciting and keep that smile on your face!  Even better, the challenge of the week is to think of something out of the ordinary, call those special friends and invite them to it!!! Leave a comment when you think of something fun!

Even A Haircut Can Bring About Change

After my haircut
It’s funny what a haircut can do for me.  You might be saying, “What do you mean?” After I get a haircut, I always feel like a new person:  more motivated and confident.

Less hair in the water feels NICE

As I thought about this a bit more, I realized that when you look and feel good, you act differently.  One simple change that you do can help your mindset and even results.  It’s like that quote, “For things to change you have to change.”  A close friend of mine broke up with her boyfriend of many years and decided that she needed a change and wanted to be a new person.  She had really long hair and cut over 12 inches off.  I remember asking her, “WHY would you do such a thing?”  She told me that it made her feel like a NEW person and everything that happened was forgotten and in the past.  Fast forward a year later: she is eating right, reading a lot, and transformed herself to the person that she wanted to become.  That is an EXTREME example, but that is what a haircut helped her to do.

How's the long hair

For a solid week I was getting a bit off track on my fitness, reading and business goals and overall being a bit lazy.  I thought back to my friend that got the haircut and started to become the person she envisioned.  So I thought, “What the heck.  Let me get a haircut and see what happens.”  I have one of the most talented friends in the hair biz Sean Scotts and booked an appointment with him.  What was so cool is that just talking with him, hearing how well he was doing in life, listening to what he wants to accomplish and all of the traveling he did just that month started motivating me to get my butt in gear and work harder!

Daily Look

If you know you are not giving 100% or if you want to change, figure out what it is that will help change your attitude, confidence and motivation!  It might not be a haircut; it could be a road trip, going to the library, live music event, working out, riding your bike, getting a massage etc.  I believe doing something that is outside of your norm will help you in this area.  Leave a comment on what you do to get that extra motivation after doing the same thing time after time.
