Interview on BIM with Patti Serano

I just did an interview with Patti Serano for her radio show. She has been in the bodyboarding industry since 1978 and is one of the Pioneers who really pushed it into the public eyes. I had the privelage of being on her show and it was such a good time. Hope you enjoy the show leave me a comment on what you thought of it in my comment box!

Pipe contest finished

I got to hang out with Timmy and his parents after church on the 22nd. His parents are really funny like him and they made me feel just like I do when im back home with my family. We went to church, got some lunch, relaxed, listened to some killer music, shoped a bit, watched a movie, and headed to the beach! It was an epic day!

The Pipe contest took place on the 23rd and 24th. I competed on the 23rd. I had a really challenging heat with my friends Michael Novy, and Josh Garner along with the Spain bodyboard champ. Garner and Novy were in rhythm, focus, and determined. I wounded up getting 3rd but learned a lot from this one event. I was seeded into round 6 becaue of my end of the year ranking in the USBA.
The waves for day three were not as good but still sick! Ryan Hardy from Australia wounded up winning the Pipe contest! Bud Miyamoto won the DK event and absolutley killed it! All in all the event was awesome and definetley a great way to start the IBA World Tour.

Pipe comp and new Crysis magazine

The Pipe contest rounds 1-4 took place and so many people were killing it! I was there for pretty much the whole day cheering on all my friends especially the Cali guys. I was hanging with Damian King and Glen Thurston to support them big time. Damian King has won the Pipe title twice along with two world titles. He also took me under his wing for three weeks while I was in Australia when I was a fresh 19 years old! He is a legend and stoked he did well. Glen is more of a free surfer but turned some heads for sure! Two first place and a third not bad at all! Very stoked for him. Also timmy hamilton killed it! A few post ago I called him the dark horse of the event and I think I will be right haha You can watch the event LIVE at www.ibaworldtour.com/live the event will mostly be held after sunday.

Pipe contest coming up!

On Saturday I got to go to go to the food market. It was sweet and one of our friends have a booth called "Crispy Grinds." They sell such good and unique food. Bodyboarding legend Alistar Taylor was there helping out with the booth. He was getting me super excited for the Pipe contest and giving me some advice which is always needed and appreciated. He will be competing in the event to. He has some crazy boards and is looking forward to bust them out for this event Saturday was also Valentines day and I got to call my amazing mother along with the coolest two sister in laws in the world; emma and christina. I was checking to make sure my brothers and dad were spoiling them and they were! haha

Yesterday was the check in date for the Pipe contest. Since I ranked 6th overall on the US tour I got seeded into the main event. I think round 3 or 4. The trials are taking place today at Ermas by Sandys and not that many people are stoked on that at all. I hope all the US competitors make it like Rusty Friesen, Beanz, Matty Meyer, and Dan Worley.
The event is on tommorow and I will be competing. You can watch the event live at http://ibaworldtour.com/live

Doing work

I finished my first class at the University of Phoenix on the 9th and started my new class the very next day! I love being able to do my school online while I still travel.

My friend Eli Beach got here from Australia a few days ago and is ready to lose in some tennis matches!! haha Eli and my friend Pierre are the two people that got me into tennis, and since then Pierre has gotten to good so Eli and I will be having our own matches! haha

Elis game face!

My friend Glen Thurston and I made a Costco run and both got a pretty big tab at the end but was way worth it. Glen is one crazy bodyboarder and rides some of the craziest waves that this world has to offer. He is constantly staying in shape and has been helping me out in that department by making me a workout regime that will be good for me.

Photobucket
Glen using the "light" weights as he puts it haha Not that light for me though

Yesterday I went to work with Uncle Greg (the guy I am staying with) since he needed an extra hand. It was a long hard day of work of just laboring. I was doing construnction work which was not easy at all. I still was able to get some water time before work and after work so it worked out well, but man was work hard! Water time feels that much better after a hard days work. Yesterday made me realize how fortunate I really am and how easy I have it right now.

The waves have been really good lately and I have been fortunate enough to have been able to surf a lot lately and have been getting a few shots to which is always a bonus! I went to the famous Teds bakery for the first time this year with Wave Rebel team rider Micah "Da Hammah" Mcmullin and Mason "B-Boy" Rose. It was sweet to cruise with those two DK killas! Micah just scored the cover of Crysis so be sure to get a copy at Alternative Surf! I guess I got a few shots in there to so I will try and get my hands on it asap!
