ALOHA to the Rogers Family

This season my friend Andrew Rogers let me stay with him and his family on the North Shore. The first time I met Andrew was like five years ago after church at a really popular breakfast joint. He is one of the easiest people to get a long with and is crazy busy working and surf and sea while also grinding school out six days a week and has such a sick family. His parents remind me of my own parents, his sister always has a killer song ready to share and his younger brother spencer and I are professional time killers haha
We went out to eat for my last dinner with my "Hawaii Family" to Lei Leis. It's a nice restaurant on the North Shore.

New Board and Suit

Wave Rebel sent me a new board and Body Glove sent me a spring suit while in Hawaii. The board works great and James Dawson did some board art on the bottom. The body glove suit is so comfy, they make such good wetsuits!

JEFF HUBBARD 2011 Pipe Champ

Jeff Hubbard won the 2011 Pipe title!
He was my pick to win from the beginning and having some text conversations the day of the event with him I knew it was going to be his day. He prepared the most and the results show.
The last text I got from him before all the celebration started was, "Thanks JW GOD was great to me today thanks for being a great friend"
Man this guy is a legend! Soo stoked for Jeff! yeww
Also Tom Rigby got 2nd, Jared Houston 3rd and Dalla Singer 4th.
That was an awesome Final GREAT job guys!

Mark Klein

Been able to surf and hang out with my good friend Mark Klein a lot this trip! I grew up bodyboarding with him all the time and since he lives in Hawaii with his wife and daughter he is still getting in the water as much as possible and always progressing. Marks one of my favorite people to hang out with ever whether it is in or out of the water. He is one of those guys when everything seems to be going wrong he will just say something to change everyone's mood and make matters better than they should be. He is one of the easiest guys to get a long with and is filled with some wisdom beyond his years.
I think everyone should have a "Mark Klein" kind of friend in their lives to be able to chat with.

Waves got small on the north shore and my friend who I am staying with Andrew has a Beater board. Perfect for these waves.

Pipe Contest Result

The waves weren't how everyone was hoping for. I gave my best and got stuck on the inside when the best waves came. I wounded up getting 3rd in the heat and not advancing. Congrats to Brian Wise and Sacha Specker for advancing those guys rip!
I just wanted to THANK EVERYONE who wrote on my facebook, twitter, texted and even called me! I had 73 messages! Talk about support you guys are amazing! Wish I would of made it but it was not my time. Have to keep training, be a smarter competitor and continue to learn from the top dogs.

Verharst in the Island and Heat Draw

My friend Alex Verharst just got to Hawaii a few days ago. Stoked to be cruising and shooting with him while he is in town.

Legends and Valentines Day

This year at the Pipe contest they are having a Legends heat. Early in the day I was surfing my second session with Jeff Hubbard at the beach park. I saw some older guys rocking up and he told me it was Eppo and Bullet! I got to watch Eppo boost his signature Eppo air in front of Hubb which was soo sick! Later in the day I went to Keiki and Eppo and Bullet had a bodysurf session. My friend Jack Johns took a shot of me and these LEGENDS of our sport! Eppo is the first person to do a double roll and the first Australian World championship. Bullet was the first Australian to win the Pipe contest.

Hello Reef and SURGE new issue cover

My friend Mike Bain and I went out at Rockies to try and get some waves before dark. It was stormy and no one out, which got us pretty siked for an uncrowded session! I got a little inside wave hit a invert didn't land it and got worked under water I hit the back of my head and got a huge knot on the back of my head, cut my lip, feet and both arms. My friend Brent Bielman made sure I was okay and took this shot for laughs haha
I tried to go out after this and got denied and the current took me all the way to Ehukai but Mike got a sick one so it was sweet!
This season I have been paying dues and getting such beat downs from breaking leashes, losing fins and mostly being in the wrong spot when clean up sets come but its all good! Just like my friend Jacob Romero always says "Makes strong"

Hawaii is Amazing and Last year!?

The waves in Hawaii have been so good lately. Yesterday was for sure some of the best waves I have ever seen in my life around lunch time. The waves got so big so quick. In the morning I was at rockys then I cruised to Pipe and stayed there for most of the day, got lunch and came back till dark. The vibe in the water was amazing and guys were going so big! Im so happy to be here and to be staying with such an amazing family, the roger clan!! The talent in the water is through the roof! The only bummer is that it is so hard to get waves. Most of the time im getting the inside scrapper waves and the odd ramp. To be out in the water with the best guys in the world is so cool though!
Last year at this time I was working 12-15 hours on the weekend and doing school work online for about three hours after work. I would only sleep anywhere from three to five hours. It was a heavy time and I am so glad that season of my life is over and that I am now doing exactly what I have dreamed of doing. God is so good! Loving life! yewww

On Oahu

I am on the North Shore of Oahu and the waves have been super fun since I got here.
Loving the routine and all my friends on this Island.
Pretty much just surfing as much as possible and staying busy! Loving life! yeww

How can't you be happy in such a beautiful place where the water is in the upper 70's and the weather is amazing! Love Hawaii!
